Travel information in and around the Addo Elephant National Park area
When coming to Addo please remember to bring your hat. Addo has the highest recorded temp in South Africa. 31 December 2007 was recorded at 49.7C.
Sun screen is also a must as the sun here will cook you to a crisp.
The road to Addo (the R335) is quite a bumpie old road but is'nt as that bad. Just take it easy. When travelling on the R335 at night drive slowly and keep a lookout for animals. Kudu, Aardvark, Bushbuck, duiker and a lot of smaller animals are normally spotted. Keep your eyes open for reflecting eyes on the side of the road.
Remember to check if the route you are taking is tar or gravel. Some of the lesser used gravel roads are not that good an could add about 1/2 hour to your journey.
